ZeniMax Online Studios 宣布《上古卷轴OL》将采用新的季节性内容更新系统，取代原有的年度大型DLC模式。这一改变意味着游戏将每3到6个月推出一个主题鲜明的赛季，包含新的剧情线、物品、地牢等内容，旨在提供更多样化且更频繁的更新。

自2017年以来，《上古卷轴OL》一直采用每年一个大型DLC的模式，同时还会发布其他独立内容和对地牢、区域等的更新。这款2014年发布的游戏最初评价褒贬不一，但工作室通过重大更新回应了玩家的批评，提升了游戏口碑和销量。值此十周年之际，ZeniMax Online 决定再次革新内容更新方式。

工作室总监Matt Firor在年末致玩家信中宣布了这一新模式。每个赛季持续3到6个月，包含新的剧情、活动、物品和地牢。Firor表示，新模式将“使ZeniMax能够专注于更多样化的内容，并将其分散到全年”。更新、修复和新系统也将更灵活地推出，因为开发团队已围绕模块化、随时发布的框架进行了重组。此外，《上古卷轴OL》团队在Twitter上表示，新内容模式将带来持久性的任务、故事和区域，不同于其他季节性更新游戏中的临时性内容。

更频繁的内容更新

开发商的目标是打破传统循环，为实验创造空间，同时释放资源来解决性能、平衡和玩家引导方面的改进。玩家还可以期待在现有区域看到新内容，因为新领土将以比年度模式更小的规模推出。未来的计划还包括《上古卷轴OL》的纹理和美术改进、PC玩家的UI升级，以及地图、UI和教程系统的改进。

ZeniMax 此举似乎是对玩家获取内容方式变化以及MMORPG中新玩家流失率的合理回应。随着ZeniMax Online Studios 准备推出新的IP，每隔几个月就提供一批新的游戏体验，或许有助于其在长期内留住不同玩家群体的长期玩家，从而确保《上古卷轴OL》的长盛不衰。
