Many Marvel Rivals players are experiencing frustratingly long shader compilation times on launch. This guide offers a solution to speed up this process significantly.
Addressing Slow Shader Compilation in Marvel Rivals
Game launches, particularly online titles, often involve some initial loading. However, Marvel Rivals players on PC are reporting excessively long shader compilation times—sometimes several minutes. Shaders are crucial programs managing visual aspects like lighting and color in 3D environments. Incorrect shader installation can cause various issues. Even with correct installation, this problem persists. Fortunately, a community-discovered workaround exists.
A Marvel Rivals subreddit user, Recent-Smile-4946, provided a solution that effectively addresses this issue:
- Access your Nvidia control panel.
- Navigate to the global settings.
- Locate the Shader Cache Size setting.
- Set the Shader Cache Size to a value less than or equal to your VRAM. (Note: Options are limited to 5 GB, 10 GB, and 100 GB; select the closest value to your VRAM.)
This method significantly reduces shader compilation time in Marvel Rivals, often to just a few seconds, and also resolves "Out of VRAM memory" errors.
While a permanent fix from NetEase is awaited, this workaround offers an immediate solution to avoid lengthy loading screens. Until an official patch is released, this is a recommended fix.
Marvel Rivals is currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
