Ubisoft has unveiled new details about the combat and progression systems in Assassin's Creed Shadows. Game director Charles Benoit shed light on character development, loot distribution, and weapon variety.
The game boasts a dual progression system: mastery points and knowledge points. Mastery points are earned through leveling up and defeating challenging enemies, while knowledge points are acquired by completing missions and discovering items. These points unlock new abilities and enhance weapons.
Each weapon features its own unique upgrade tree, allowing for highly personalized builds. Players can freely reset their progress to experiment with different strategies and weapon combinations. Weapons offer unique bonuses, catering to diverse combat situations. For instance, legendary weapons like the naginata provide counters to otherwise unstoppable attacks, offering tactical advantages unavailable with other weapons.
Assassin's Creed Shadows' combat system supports stealth takedowns but encourages diverse combat approaches. As characters develop, additional stat upgrades become available, allowing for refined skills. The developers emphasize that mastering all techniques and upgrades will require a substantial time commitment.
Assassin's Creed Shadows launches March 20th on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Players can anticipate a deep experience blending stealth, combat, and strategic progression.
