Honkai Star Rail 3.2 Updates Banner System for Enhanced Player Freedom

Author : Layla Apr 26,2025

Gacha mechanics are a pivotal element of Honkai Star Rail, and it appears that miHoYo, now known as HoYoverse, is gearing up to enhance player control over character pulls. Recent leaks indicate that the banner system will undergo significant changes starting with version 3.2, introducing a new dynamic to the game's gacha mechanics.

According to insider reports from Sakura Haven, the 3.2 update will bring a customizable pity system for limited banners. This means players will no longer be confined to a standard pool of characters for 50/50 pity pulls. Instead, they will have the ability to select their preferred characters from a limited set, which can partially or fully replace the default pool. This empowers players with more control over their potential rewards.

Currently, the 50/50 pity pool includes 7 standard characters. With the 3.2 update, this will be transformed into a 'Group' of characters from which players can choose. You'll be able to select 7 characters from this 'Group' to form your personalized 50/50 pity pool. This means that if you lose a 50/50 roll, you'll receive a character from your custom pool rather than the default standard lineup.

The 'Group' will initially feature the 7 standard characters alongside a limited selection of additional characters for players to choose from.

This update has the potential to greatly improve the player experience by minimizing frustration and offering more flexibility. By enabling players to tailor their pity pool, miHoYo is tackling one of the most frequent criticisms of gacha systems: the unpredictability of losing pity rolls. With the option to prioritize specific characters, players will have a higher likelihood of acquiring units that align with their preferred playstyle or aesthetic.

Yet, the specifics of which characters will be included in the selectable pool are still unclear. It remains to be seen whether the pool will include past limited characters, current banner units, or even entirely new additions.

These proposed changes highlight miHoYo’s continuous efforts to refine Honkai Star Rail and make it more player-friendly. By introducing a customizable pity system, the developers are recognizing the significance of player choice within gacha games. This could establish a new benchmark for how such systems are crafted in other games.

While the precise execution and impact of this feature are yet to be fully understood, the announcement has already generated excitement within the community. Fans are eagerly anticipating how these changes will influence their gameplay experience when Honkai Star Rail 3.2 is released.
