Balatro exceeds five million sales across all devices

Author : Olivia Mar 18,2025

Balatro, the critically acclaimed blend of deck-building, solitaire, and roguelike mechanics from LocalThunk, has achieved a remarkable milestone: five million sales across all platforms. This includes a significant contribution from mobile, where it has garnered numerous awards.

While impressive, the five million sales figure is even more noteworthy considering Balatro's origins as a solo-developed project, with all sales representing premium revenue for developer LocalThunk and publisher Playstack. While precise mobile sales figures aren't currently available, the growth since December (when sales reached 3.5 million) indicates a substantial 1.5 million increase from the mobile market alone.

While not necessarily a definitive "indie breakthrough" for mobile gaming given the many other successful releases on the platform, Balatro's success is undeniably significant, particularly given its development journey. Its continued success, bolstered by ongoing updates and cross-platform features, remains to be seen.

This achievement raises the important question: will Balatro's success inspire greater confidence in the mobile market for indie developers? We certainly hope so.

For those unfamiliar with Balatro, our five-star review provides a comprehensive overview. Check it out to understand why this unique game has resonated so strongly with players.
