For years, Bloodborne fans have passionately requested a remastered version of FromSoftware's acclaimed title. Recent Instagram activity has only fueled this anticipation, sparking widespread speculation about a potential release.
Instagram Posts Ignite Bloodborne Remaster Hype
A Beloved Classic Deserving a Modern Update
Bloodborne, a critically lauded RPG released in 2015, holds a special place in many gamers' hearts. The desire to revisit the gothic city of Yharnam on modern consoles is widespread. While no official announcement has been made, recent posts on FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia's Instagram accounts featuring the game have significantly increased the buzz surrounding a possible return.
On August 24th, FromSoftware shared three images showcasing the game's title and the hashtag "#bloodborne." One image featured Djura, a memorable hunter encountered in Old Yharnam. The others depicted the player Hunter exploring Yharnam's core and the eerie Charnel Lane graveyards.
Although these posts could simply be a nostalgic look back, dedicated Bloodborne players across platforms like Twitter (X) have meticulously examined every detail, searching for clues hinting at a long-awaited remaster. The timing, especially with PlayStation Italia's similar post on August 17th, has left many feeling teased.
PlayStation Italia's post, translated, asked fans to choose their favorite iconic Bloodborne locations. The comments section overflowed with pleas for a Yharnam return, some fondly recalling their favorite spots, others humorously suggesting the most iconic location would be on PC or newer consoles.
The Hunt for Bloodborne on Modern Consoles Continues – Almost a Decade Later
Released exclusively for PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne has cultivated a fiercely loyal fanbase, earning widespread critical acclaim and recognition as one of the greatest video games ever created. Despite this success, a sequel or remaster remains elusive.
Fans point to the 2020 remake of Demon's Souls (originally released in 2009) as a possible precedent for a Bloodborne revival. However, this hope is tempered by concerns about the potential wait. The over-a-decade-long wait for the Demon's Souls remake has led to fears that Bloodborne might face a similar delay. As the game's tenth anniversary approaches, the anticipation for a remaster is stronger than ever.
In a February interview with Eurogamer, Bloodborne director Hidetaka Miyazaki fueled the speculation. While not confirming anything definitive, he acknowledged the advantages of remastering the game for modern hardware.
Miyazaki stated, "New hardware certainly adds value to remakes. But it's not the only factor. Modern hardware lets more players experience the game, making it more accessible, which is important."
While Miyazaki's comments offer a ray of hope, the final decision rests not with FromSoftware. Unlike Elden Ring, which FromSoftware fully publishes, Bloodborne's rights are held by Sony.
In a separate interview with IGN, Miyazaki explained, "Unfortunately, I can't comment specifically on Bloodborne. FromSoftware doesn't own the IP."
Bloodborne's passionate community eagerly awaits a remaster. Despite its critical and commercial success, Sony has yet to expand its availability beyond the PS4. Only time will reveal if the speculation surrounding a Bloodborne remaster becomes a reality.
