World of Warcraft Patch 11.1 introduces exhilarating new race types: Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. races and Skyrocket races utilizing Goblin jetpacks. These replace traditional Skyriding races within the new Undermine zone.
Undermine, the subterranean Goblin capital, prohibits flying. Instead, players navigate using the D.R.I.V.E. system – customizable, high-speed vehicles. Breakneck races fully exploit the D.R.I.V.E. system's potential for thrilling speed challenges.
Complementing the ground-based races are the innovative Skyrocket races. These utilize Goblin jetpacks for aerial maneuvering, offering a unique blend of flight mechanics. Unlike traditional flying, players cannot hover; however, unlike Skyriding, they maintain momentum and altitude. Collecting rings boosts speed, but simultaneously reduces maneuverability, adding a layer of strategic complexity.
No Skyriding, but Abundant Racing:
Undermine's no-fly policy eliminates Skyriding races. However, both Breakneck and Skyrocket races feature achievements for Bronze, Silver, and Gold completion times. Reverse versions of all races are also included, though advanced or challenge courses are absent.
Race List:
Skyrocket | Breakneck |
---|---|
Skyrocketing Sprint | Breakneck Bolt |
The Heaps Leap | Junkyard Jaunt |
Scrapshop Shot | Casino Cruise |
Rags to Riches Run | Sandy Scuttle |
Player reception to Skyrocket races is currently mixed, with some expressing concerns about the jetpack's responsiveness. However, with Patch 11.1 still under development (anticipated February release), further refinements are expected.
