Hungry Horrors: Steam Demo Out Now, Mobile Soon

Hungry Horrors, the eagerly anticipated quirky roguelite deckbuilder from Clumsy Bear Studio, a UK-based game developer, introduces a refreshing twist to the genre. Instead of battling monsters, players find themselves cooking for these creatures to satisfy their hunger. The game has recently launched its first playable demo, now available on Steam, Itch, and GOG, offering a sneak peek into its unique gameplay.

Following its initial release on PC, Clumsy Bear Studio plans to expand Hungry Horrors to mobile and console platforms. While an official release date remains under wraps, fans can dive into the demo right away. The developers have been actively engaging with the community, showcasing the game at events like the London Game Festival 2025.

The Steam demo of Hungry Horrors offers a comprehensive experience, featuring two handcrafted biomes, six distinct monsters to serve, two boss encounters, and interactions with four NPCs. Players can also explore non-combat zones like the Nook and the Trove, ideal spots to regroup and refine their culinary strategies.

More About Hungry Horrors

In Hungry Horrors, you step into the shoes of a princess tasked with preparing traditional British and Irish dishes to appease folklore creatures and prevent them from turning on you. The game masterfully blends deckbuilding with culinary arts, presenting a uniquely humorous experience.

Set against a backdrop of retro pixel art and gothic aesthetics, the game's charm lies in its humor and the quirky dishes you prepare, such as Bara Brith and Cranachan, tailored to the specific tastes of each monster. From Jenny Greenteeth, the blood-thirsty swamp witch, to Black Annis, the child-snatching hag with iron claws, your culinary skills are put to the test. Fail to satisfy their cravings, and you might find yourself on their menu!

Players will need to decipher the likes and dislikes of legendary creatures like Grendel and Redcap, each with their peculiar culinary preferences. The deckbuilding aspect adds a strategic layer, where players combine ingredients and utilize utensils, spices, and herbs to enhance their dishes. Balancing flavor profiles and planning meals becomes crucial as you progress, unlocking new recipes, ingredients, legendary artifacts, and rescued familiars.
