Diablo III's annual "Fall of Tristram" event, traditionally ending February 1st, has sparked requests from fans for an extension. Community manager pezradar explained that extending the event is currently impossible due to its hard-coded nature, precluding server-side adjustments.
Regarding the delayed launch of Diablo IV Season 34, pezradar apologized for the disruption to player weekend plans. The delay, resulting from issues with the automatic season scheduler that prematurely ended Season 33 in early January, requires the development team to write new code to ensure smooth seasonal transitions. This extra time allows for thorough testing and safeguards player progress transfers. Improved communication regarding future delays is also being addressed.
Meanwhile, Wolcen Studio announced Project Pantheon, a free-to-play combat RPG blending extraction shooter mechanics. A closed alpha test begins January 25th in Europe, expanding to North America on February 1st. Game director Andrei Cirkulete describes the game as a fusion of extraction shooter tension and RPG combat dynamics, aiming to deliver a unique experience drawing inspiration from titles like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. Players will assume the role of a Death messenger striving to restore order to a ravaged world.
