Embracer has celebrated the remarkable success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, announcing that the game is approaching the 2 million sales mark. Just one day after its launch, the game sold an impressive 1 million copies, and within 10 days, it nearly doubled that figure. This sequel to the medieval Europe action role-playing game, developed by Warhorse Studios, was released on February 4 and is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. Embracer highlighted that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 performed exceptionally well on Steam, achieving over 250,000 peak concurrent players. For comparison, the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance reached a peak of 96,069 concurrent players on Steam seven years ago.
It's important to note that the actual peak concurrent player count for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is likely higher, considering its availability on consoles as well. However, neither Sony nor Microsoft disclose player numbers publicly.
Embracer, which owns Warhorse Studios through its subsidiary Plaion, described Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 as "initially successful" not only in terms of player and critic reception but also in terms of sales performance. Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors praised the dedication and hard work of Warhorse Studios and publisher Deep Silver, stating, "It is our strong belief that the game will continue to generate substantial revenues over the coming years, highlighting the exceptional quality, immersion, and appeal of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2." He also mentioned that Warhorse Studios has a robust roadmap planned, including updates and new content over the next 12 months, ensuring an engaging and continuously evolving experience for the community.
Wingefors added, "We are immensely proud of the teams involved in the successful release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which has significantly outperformed our expectations so far."
In addition to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Embracer is gearing up for the release of Killing Floor 3 later this quarter (January to March 2025). The company boasts over 5,000 game developers working on its upcoming titles, with 10 triple-A games scheduled for release over the next three financial years (FY 2025/26, FY 2026/27, and FY 2027/28). Eight of these games are being developed by internal studios, while two are from external studios.
For FY 2025/26, Embracer has planned the release of two triple-A games towards the end of the financial year. The lineup also includes mid-size releases such as Gothic 1 Remake, REANIMAL, Fellowship, Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, Titan Quest II, Screamer, Echoes of the End (working title), Tides of Tomorrow, Satisfactory (console), and the full release of Wreckfest 2, along with several other mid-sized games yet to be announced.
Despite recent challenges, including layoffs and the sale of several studios such as Gearbox and Saber Interactive, Embracer continues to own Metro developer 4A Games, which is currently working on a new game in the series.
