Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former developers from The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, has unveiled their ambitious new project: The Blood of Dawnwalker. While not aiming for a full-scale AAA experience, the team's aspirations are undeniably high.
Studio founder Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz clarified their goal: achieving Witcher 3-level quality, albeit within a more manageable scope. He stated:
“We aim for AAA quality, like The Witcher 3—it's in our DNA. However, as a small studio on our first project, we're crafting something more concise, yet equally refined.”
The anticipated playtime is estimated at 30-40 hours:
“Comparing anything to The Witcher 3, designed for 100+ hours but often exceeding 200-300, is ambitious. But does sheer size define AAA? Call of Duty is AAA without an extensive campaign. So, is scale truly the defining factor?”
Tomaszkiewicz further downplayed the significance of industry classifications like "AAA" and "AAAA," deeming them largely irrelevant.
The Blood of Dawnwalker, an action RPG, centers around a half-vampire with a 30-day, 30-night deadline to rescue his loved ones. Despite the time constraint, the developers emphasize a streamlined and polished gameplay experience. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the game is slated for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, although a specific release date has yet to be announced.
