Capcom's latest Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase delivered a wealth of new information across their game lineup. Highlights include a new story trailer and Open Beta 2 details for Monster Hunter Wilds, expanded details on Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny remaster announcement, and a release date for Capcom Fighting Collection 2.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword – A 2026 Debut
Targeted for a 2026 release, Onimusha: Way of the Sword promises compelling characters, a new protagonist, and engaging enemies. The developers aim to recreate the historical setting of Kyoto with meticulous detail, and deliver exhilarating sword combat with visceral impact. The game, set in the Edo period, features a protagonist wielding an Oni Gauntlet, fueled by the souls of vanquished Genma. While challenging, the difficulty is designed to be accessible to action fans of all skill levels.
Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny – Remastered for 2025
The 2002 classic, Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, receives a remastered edition in 2025, bridging the gap until the arrival of Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
Monster Hunter Wilds – Open Beta 2 Details
Monster Hunter Wilds' second Open Beta test introduces the flagship monster, Arkveld, in a challenging advanced quest. Other additions include a Gypceros Hunt, a training area, and online features such as Private Lobbies and Online Single Player mode. Data from the first beta can be transferred, and the Character Creator, Story Trial, and Doshaguma hunt return. Cross-play will be enabled.
Beta Dates:
- Thursday, February 6, 7 PM PT – Sunday, February 9, 6:59 PM PT
- Thursday, February 13, 7 PM PT – Sunday, February 16, 6:59 PM PT
Character data transfers to the full game (February 28th release), but progress will not carry over. Participants receive a special Pendant.
Monster Hunter Wilds – Iceshard Cliffs and New Threats
The showcase revealed a new story trailer featuring the Iceshard Cliffs, introducing new monsters: Rove (Wudwud), Hirabami - Leviathan, Nerscylla - Temnoceran, and Gore Magala. Further details on the flagship monster, Arkveld, were also shared.
