Cow in Mario Kart World Eats Burgers, Steak

Amid the whirlwind of news about tariffs and Nintendo Switch 2 pricing, it's refreshing to dive into something light-hearted and fun. This week, IGN had the chance to play Mario Kart World at a Nintendo event in New York, and they uncovered a delightful detail about the new Moo Moo Meadows Cow character: yes, she can indeed eat burgers and steak, among other things!

For those who might be out of the loop, Mario Kart World recently made headlines with its announcement, which included the introduction of the Moo Moo Meadows Cow as a playable racer. The internet has been abuzz with excitement, spawning countless memes and fanart of this once-background character who has now stepped into the spotlight.

However, as news of Cow's inclusion spread, fans noticed an intriguing detail in the Nintendo Direct 2 trailer. In the trailer, Mario is seen eating a burger, leading to a curious question: if burgers are typically made from beef, would Cow, whose kind might be considered a source of beef, eat beef herself? This sparked a flurry of discussions among fans eager to understand this culinary conundrum.

Imagine if the cow gets a transformation costume.

At the Nintendo preview event, the mystery was solved. The food items seen in the trailer are available at Yoshi's diner locations across the courses in Mario Kart World. These diners operate like drive-thrus, allowing racers to grab a bag of take-out just as they would an item box. Inside these bags, you can find a variety of food items, including burgers, steak kebabs, pizza, and donuts.

And yes, Cow can eat them all. During IGN's session, they witnessed Cow consuming various items, including the burger in question. While other racers change costumes upon consuming these food items, Cow doesn't seem to experience any transformation. This raises questions about the purpose of Cow eating these foods. Is she simply enjoying the taste of beef? Could there be a hidden power-up linked to her burger consumption that Nintendo hasn't yet revealed? Or perhaps these are vegetarian or plant-based alternatives?

IGN reached out to Nintendo for clarification but hasn't received a response yet. It's likely that Nintendo is preoccupied with their New York event, and not because the question about Cow's diet is a bit out there. Right?

In the meantime, don't miss out on IGN's preview of Mario Kart World, where you can see Cow in action. It's a fun glimpse into what promises to be an exciting addition to the Mario Kart series.
