BG3 Patch 8 Is So Big, It Needs To Be Stress Tested

Larian Studios has introduced a Stress Test update for the highly anticipated Patch 8 of Baldur's Gate 3. This stress test is crucial to ensure the patch's stability before its official release. Dive in to learn all about the stress test, its features, and what Patch 8 has in store.

Patch 8 Stress Test Update 1 Arrives With Bug Fixes

Only Available To Testers

BG3 Patch 8 Is So Big, It Needs To Be Stress Tested

Larian has rolled out an update to the Patch 8 Stress Test build, addressing numerous bugs, crashes, and scripting errors. This update ensures that Gale correctly consumes magical items as intended. It's important to note that only those with access to the Patch 8 stress test can download this update on their designated console. Non-testers will need to wait for the full, polished patch to experience all the new improvements and content.

Key highlights of the update include:

  • Containers within inventories now retain their contents when destroyed.
  • Enhanced screenshot capabilities in Photo Mode for Steam Deck users.
  • More responsive poses and improved cross-play functionality.
  • Updated Booming Blade tooltip values when cast.
  • Resolution of several crash issues.

For a detailed list of all the improvements, visit the official Baldur's Gate 3 website's news section.

As one of the final feature-rich updates from Larian before they move on from the world of Faerûn, Patch 8 is set to be a monumental update, hence the necessity for stress testing. This patch will introduce platform cross-play, over 12 new subclasses such as the Death Domain Cleric, Path of Giants Barbarian, and Arcane Archer Fighter, along with the eagerly awaited Photo Mode.

Photo Mode Is As Customizable As It Can Be

While awaiting the official release of Patch 8, players can get a comprehensive sneak peek into the upcoming Photo Mode. Larian aims to ensure players get the "Absolute most out of Photo Mode from the start."

Photo Mode offers extensive customization options, accessible almost anywhere—during adventures, in combat, and even in multiplayer by the host player. You can set up companions and characters in any pose you envision, with or without party members, or add quirky elements like a jumping frog that steals the show. The free-moving camera adds to the flexibility, allowing players to capture the perfect angle.

After setting up your scene, you can enhance your photos with post-processing effects, stickers, and frames. However, during dialogues and cinematic cutscenes, you're limited to adding post-process effects and cannot alter poses.

This sneak peek is just the beginning. Larian plans to release a tips and tricks video to further unleash the creative potential of the player base's budding photographers.
