Sony is set to host its anticipated February PlayStation State of Play broadcast next week, reportedly during Valentine’s Day week, from February 10 to 14. This news comes from reliable leaker NateTheHate, who previously accurately predicted the date for Nintendo’s Switch 2 reveal.
As speculation mounts, fans are eager to see what Sony has planned for this year's event. Given the lineup of first-party titles slated for 2025, there's much to look forward to. Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Yotei might unveil new gameplay and a release date, given its 2025 window. Bungie’s PvP extraction shooter, Marathon, could also make an appearance, especially if it's gearing up for playtesting this year. Haven Studios' debut title, Fairgames, is another potential highlight. Naughty Dog's new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and Insomniac's Marvel’s Wolverine are also on the radar. A fresh trailer for Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, set for release in 2025, seems highly probable.
However, don't expect to see any of the recently canceled live service games from Sony. Last month, Sony axed two unannounced live-service projects from Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games, with the latter working on a live-service God of War title. Meanwhile, Guerrilla Games' live service Horizon project reportedly survived the cuts, and fans are hopeful for a reveal at this event.
Which PlayStation game are you most excited to see at Sony's next State of Play?
- Ghost of Yotei
- Marathon
- Death Stranding 2
- Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
- Marvel's Wolverine
- Fairgames
- Horizon multiplayer live service project
- Physint
- Phantom Blade Zero
Moving to third-party announcements, Hideo Kojima's Physint, an upcoming stealth-action PlayStation exclusive, might be a bit premature for a showcase. On the other hand, Phantom Blade Zero, the dynamic hack-and-slash action RPG from Chinese studio S-Game, seems more likely to appear.
Microsoft, now a key player in publishing games for PlayStation, could use the State of Play to share more about Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, possibly announcing its PS5 release date. There's also the intriguing possibility of Microsoft revealing Halo coming to PlayStation.
Reflecting on last year's State of Play can offer some insight into what to expect. The event featured titles like Death Stranding 2, Physint, Rise of the Ronin, the Until Dawn remaster, Stellar Blade, Dragon's Dogma 2, Sonic x Shadow Generations, various Silent Hill projects, Ken Levine’s Judas, Foamstars, and Helldivers 2.
