Sony reportedly plans a return to the handheld gaming console market, potentially challenging Nintendo's Switch dominance. This news, sourced from Bloomberg, suggests an early-stage development project. However, it's crucial to note this is preliminary, and Sony may ultimately decide against releasing the console.

Long-time gaming enthusiasts recall Sony's previous portable consoles, the PlayStation Portable (PSP) and PlayStation Vita (Vita). The Vita, despite its popularity, couldn't overcome the rise of mobile gaming, leading Sony to seemingly abandon the market. Many other companies followed suit, leaving Nintendo as the primary player.

The resurgence of handheld gaming, fueled by devices like the Steam Deck and the continued success of the Nintendo Switch, alongside advancements in mobile technology, may have shifted the landscape.
