To achieve the best ending in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, completing certain tasks is crucial, and one of these is saving Sam. Knowing where to find Sam is essential for those aiming for a perfect playthrough.
Rescuing Sam During “Reckoning”
As you near the end of the main quest line, you discover that Sam is being held captive at Praguer’s Camp, captured by Brabant. Your opportunity to save him arises during the main quest “Reckoning.” Infiltrating the camp is your best bet, whether through stealth or force.
To blend in, you'll need a guard's outfit. You can acquire this by killing a guard and stealing their uniform, ensuring to hide the body afterward, or by looting one of the many chests scattered around the camp. Once you have the outfit, you can freely explore the camp without arousing suspicion.
When to Rescue Sam
After freeing Sam, it's not yet time to leave the camp. Sam informs you about von Aulitz, who is also within the camp. It's advisable to deal with von Aulitz first, then secure a horse, and finally return to Sam to escape. Sam can wait safely, and this sequence simplifies the tasks, as you'll need to carry him to the horse.
Von Aulitz is found in the main part of the camp. Wearing the guard's outfit allows you to enter his room without challenge. Upon finding him, von Aulitz, already dying, requests a dignified death. Granting this request is the most honorable option. Alternatively, you can kill him brutally or leave him to suffer, which might not have significant impacts but leaving him to die actually aids in achieving the best ending.
Your final steps involve retrieving Sam from the barn where you left him. If questioned by a guard, simply say you're moving a body, which will dispel any suspicion. Exit the camp, turn right, and follow the perimeter until you reach the stables.
