As we delve into 2025, it's time to revisit and refresh IGN's list of the 25 Best Modern PC Games. When we say "best," we're not aiming for an objective ranking that would universally align with all gamers' tastes. Such a list is impossible, given the subjective nature of gaming. One player's strategic masterpiece can be another's tedious slog, and even fans of the same genre often disagree on rankings.

Instead, this list reflects the collective recommendations of IGN's PC gaming enthusiasts. We used our Face-Off tool to rank these games, ensuring every voice was heard. This compilation is meant to spotlight games we cherish and encourage you to explore them if you haven't already.

With just 25 slots available, many outstanding recent PC games couldn't make the cut. This doesn't diminish their quality; it's simply a reflection of the vast number of games and diverse perspectives among our voters. Each participant has their own favorites, but not all could garner enough group support to be included.

The Best PC Games

26 ImagesOur criteria for this list focus on "modern" PC games, meaning titles released or significantly updated within the last decade, from 2013 onwards. While we adore classics like the original Doom, Half-Life 2, Portal, Skyrim, StarCraft 2, Mass Effect 2, Minecraft, BioShock, KOTOR, Fallout: New Vegas, and Batman: Arkham City, they've transitioned from modern to all-time greats.
