Ever since the announcement of the upcoming DLC for Lies of P, titled Overture, fans have been buzzing with excitement and speculation about what mysteries it might unveil. During the Game Developers Conference last week, IGN gained some intriguing insights, particularly regarding one mystery the DLC won't solve: the mind-bending twist in the base game's final cutscene.
For those yet to experience the end of Lies of P, here’s a spoiler-free summary: the final cutscene hints at potential future directions for the Lies of P universe. This twist has sparked a flurry of fan theories about its implications and potential explanations in the upcoming DLC. However, Lies of P director Jiwon Choi has clarified that this particular cutscene is not related to the Overture DLC. Choi remained tight-lipped, only stating, "Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future."

The scene in question, which we discussed with Choi, is the enigmatic Dorothy scene. As detailed in our previous coverage, the final cutscene features Paracelcus on a phone call, mentioning his intent to "find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy." The scene then reveals the iconic striped sock legs and ruby slippers of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, hinting that future developments in the Lies of P universe might intertwine with other public domain fairy tales. While we're still left pondering the hows and whys, we now know this won't be addressed in Overture.SPOILERS END HERE.
Despite the mystery of the final cutscene remaining unsolved, Choi offered some intriguing insights into what fans can expect from the Overture DLC. He encouraged players to replay the base game, noting, "When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience. A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in the expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in the expansion."Choi also hinted that some fans are already on the right track, mentioning that he frequently reads fan theories online and finds "some of them are quite close."
Additional details revealed include that the Overture DLC is expected to take between 15-20 hours for experienced players to complete. It will be accessible once players have progressed past a "certain" chapter in the game, and can be played through to the end. As previously announced, the DLC serves as a prequel, transporting the main character back in time to Krat just before its fall. Players can look forward to new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons, though Choi kept the specifics under wraps to maintain the excitement for the release.
