Nickmercs and TimTheTatman Issue Statements on Dr Disrespect Situation

The Dr Disrespect Twitch controversy has been officially commented on by both TimTheTatman and Nickmercs. Numerous streamers and pro gamers are weighing in on the issue following an official statement from Dr Disrespect regarding the Twitch leak.

Recently, news broke from former Twitch staffer Cody Conners that Dr Disrespect was allegedly sexting with a minor via Twitch's now-defunct Whispers function. The function was essentially a way of private messaging users, and was not encrypted, so conversations were viewable in plain text to Twitch. Cody Conners claimed that Dr Disrespect was discovered to be using the feature to have illicit conversations with a minor, and that's what ultimately led to Twitch severing its contract with Dr Disrespect back in 2020. After making some comments on-stream, Dr Disrespect finally issued an official statement admitting to having talked to a minor via Whispers with conversations that "leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate," in his words. Now, fellow streaming leaders are speaking out on the matter.

TimTheTatman and Nickmercs both took to Twitter to discuss the matter with their followers with brief video messages. Both creators seemed solemn and disappointed in the revelation and expressed how disappointed they were. TimTheTatman said that he couldn't support Dr Disrespect sending messages that "teeter on inappropriate" to a minor. As with some other content creators, it seems that once it became clear that Dr Disrespect was admitting to having these private conversations with someone underage, he lost TimTheTatman's support, as the fellow streamer can't condone that behavior.

Meanwhile, Nickmercs also shared a similar sentiment, talking about how he and his boys were "torn up" over it because they used to play games together. However, he first and foremost said that it was inexcusable and unacceptable for Dr Disrespect to have behaved this way with a minor, and that Nickmercs simply can't defend or support the behavior.

Where Does Dr Disrespect Go From Here?
At the moment, Dr Disrespect has stepped away from the controversy to go on vacation with his wife and family, which he had planned on taking prior to these revelations coming to light. However, Dr Disrespect noted in his statement to the public that he had no intention of going anywhere in the long run. He claims that a weight has been lifted off his shoulders and that he fully intends to return to streaming, and says that he doesn't he's "not the same guy that made this mistake" back then. However, with Dr Disrespect losing partnerships and opportunities following this coming to light, it remains to be seen if his audience will stick with him through it.
