In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you'll primarily take on the role of the Wanderer on a mission to restore peace to the land. Throughout your journey, you'll be faced with numerous choices in the main storyline, and no matter which paths you choose, you'll often be accompanied by powerful allies in battle.
These companions not only follow you loyally across the battlefield but also offer you the chance to take direct control over them at key moments. Given their formidable strength, playing as these companions can be far more effective than sticking with the Wanderer, even with his upgrades. Here's how you can switch characters to leverage their might.
How To Switch Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Switching to your companion is possible only during battles where they are present with you. Before the battle, during the war council, you'll see an option to select your companion. You can choose to go into battle alone, but remember, once the fight starts, you can't switch to any companions who aren't selected beforehand. Once the battle begins, keep an eye on the bottom right of your screen where you'll see your companion's health bar just above your own.
Directly beneath their health bar, you'll notice a blue bar similar to your Musou bar. This bar fills up as you engage in combat, with actions such as:
- Parrying attacks
- Perfect dodging
- Assaulting Officers
- Using Weapon Arts
Virtually any combat action contributes to filling this bar, albeit at a slower pace.
When your companion's blue bar is fully charged, a "Change Character" prompt will appear next to the bar. To switch characters, hold down the "Change Character" button for about a second. This action is performed using the View Button on Xbox, the C key on PC, or the Touchpad on PlayStation.
Playing As Other Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
It's best to switch to another character during the heat of a major battle. Companions are exceptionally powerful, and you'll control them for roughly a minute. The blue bar that allowed the switch will start to drain, indicating the time you have left with your new character. Your new character will come into play with full Bravery and an arsenal of potent combat arts at your disposal.
When you switch, your new character will launch into the battle with a significant attack, so make sure you're targeting an enemy at the moment of switching. Your companion will also have their own Musou and health bars, both fully charged, enabling you to unleash their unique special attack for maximum impact against your foes.
