Disable Mouse Acceleration for Enhanced Marvel Rivals Gameplay

Author : Samuel Jan 02,2025

Mouse acceleration is a major drawback for competitive shooters, and Marvel Rivals is no exception. The game frustratingly enables mouse acceleration by default, lacking an in-game toggle. Here's how to disable it:

How to Disable Mouse Acceleration in Marvel Rivals

Because the game offers no in-game setting, you must directly modify a configuration file. Follow these simple steps:

  1. Press Windows key + R, then type %localappdata% and press Enter.
  2. Locate the "Marvel" folder, then navigate to "MarvelSavedConfigWindows".
  3. Open "GameUserSettings.ini" using Notepad (or your preferred text editor).
  4. Add the following lines to the end of the file:
[/Script/Engine.InputSettings]
bEnableMouseSmoothing=False
bViewAccelerationEnabled=False
  1. Save the changes (Ctrl + S), then close the file.
  2. Right-click "GameUserSettings.ini", select "Properties", check the "Read-only" box, and click "Apply" and "OK".

This disables mouse acceleration within the game. For optimal results, also disable it in Windows:

  1. In the Windows search bar, type "Mouse" and select "Mouse settings".
  2. Click "Additional mouse options" in the top right corner.
  3. Go to the "Pointer Options" tab and uncheck "Enhance pointer precision".
  4. Click "Apply" and "OK".

You've now successfully disabled mouse acceleration in both Marvel Rivals and Windows. Enjoy improved aim and consistent sensitivity!

Understanding Mouse Acceleration and Why It's Detrimental

Mouse acceleration alters your cursor speed based on your mouse movement speed. Fast movements result in high sensitivity, slow movements in low sensitivity. While convenient for general use, this inconsistency is detrimental in shooters like Marvel Rivals.

Consistent sensitivity is crucial for building muscle memory and improving aim. Mouse acceleration prevents this, constantly changing your sensitivity and hindering your ability to develop accurate aiming skills.

With mouse acceleration disabled, you'll experience a linear, predictable response, leading to more precise aiming and improved gameplay.

Marvel Rivals is available now on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
