Resident Evil's Mikami and Killer7's Suda51 Hint at Sequel and Remaster
During a recent Grasshopper Direct presentation focused on Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, the possibility of both a Killer7 sequel and a complete edition was teased by Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil creator) and Goichi "Suda51" Suda.
A Killer Sequel? Killer11 or Killer7: Beyond?
Mikami openly expressed his desire for a Killer7 sequel, calling it a personal favorite. Suda51, while not committing to a firm timeline, echoed this sentiment, suggesting potential sequel titles like "Killer11" or "Killer7: Beyond."
The 2005 cult classic, Killer7, is an action-adventure game blending horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature over-the-top style. The game follows Harman Smith, a man capable of manifesting seven distinct personalities, each with unique abilities. Despite its dedicated fanbase, a sequel has remained elusive. Even after a 2018 PC remaster, Suda51 voiced interest in revisiting the original vision, proposing a "Complete Edition" to restore cut content, specifically extensive dialogue for the character Coyote.
While Mikami playfully dismissed the Complete Edition idea as "lame," the discussion highlighted the potential for expanding the original game. The possibility of either a sequel or a complete edition has generated significant excitement among fans. The developers' enthusiasm, while not a confirmation, has fueled anticipation for the future of Killer7. The ultimate decision, according to Suda51, rests on whether a "Killer7: Beyond" sequel or a Complete Edition will be prioritized.
