Assassin's Creed Shadows Delayed to March 20, 2025
Ubisoft has announced another delay for the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14th release, this marks a five-week postponement from the previously announced date. The publisher cites the need to incorporate player feedback and further refine the game's polish as the reason for the delay.
The game's initial delay, announced in September 2024, shifted the launch from November 15th to February 14th. While the first delay was attributed to development challenges related to historical accuracy, this latest postponement directly addresses fan feedback. Marc-Alexis Coté, Vice President Executive Producer of the Assassin's Creed franchise, emphasized Ubisoft's commitment to delivering a high-quality, immersive experience through ongoing player interaction. Both delays, he stated, provide crucial time for refinement and polishing.
Release Date: March 20, 2025
Following the September delay, Ubisoft offered pre-order refunds and free access to the first expansion for players who had pre-ordered. While there's been no official announcement regarding similar compensation for this latest delay, the shorter timeframe might mitigate potential player frustration.
This additional delay may also be connected to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched to improve player-centricity. The company experienced record losses in its 2023 fiscal year, prompting this review. Prioritizing fan feedback in Assassin's Creed Shadows could be a direct response to these internal changes and a commitment to improving future game development.
