Tarneeb is a card game played by two teams, each consisting of two players sitting opposite each other at a table. A standard 52-card deck is used, and play proceeds counter-clockwise. The goal for each player is to accurately estimate the number of "Allmat" (tricks) their team can win in each round.
The player who wins the bid to declare "Tarneeb" throws a type of paper onto the floor. Other players must then throw down papers of the same type. The player who throws the matching paper first wins the "Bamh." If a player doesn't possess the required paper type, they forfeit and the "Tarneeb" option goes to another player. "Tarneeb" papers are superior to all other paper types; the player who throws the strongest "Tarneeb" paper wins unless a stronger one is played.
The round ends when all players have played. Points are tallied. A team's bid is only successful if they win at least the number of "Allmat" they predicted. If successful, they add the number of "Allmat" won to their score. If unsuccessful, the number of "Allmat" they won is added to the opposing team's score, and the bidding team loses points.
If either team manages to win 13 tricks without bidding for 13, 16 points are added to their total score. If they bid for and win 13 tricks, 26 points are added. Conversely, if a team bids for 13 tricks and fails, 16 points are deducted from their score.
The game concludes when one team reaches a total score of 41 or more points. That team is declared the winner.
