The Witcher Saga Continues: Ciri Takes Center Stage in Witcher 4
Nearly a decade after the critically acclaimed Witcher 3 captivated gamers worldwide, CD Projekt Red has unveiled the first trailer for The Witcher 4, shifting the narrative focus to Ciri, Geralt's adopted daughter. With Geralt's trilogy concluded, the spotlight shines on the next generation of Witchers.
The teaser depicts Ciri intervening in a village gripped by a dark ritual, showcasing her unwavering determination to prevent a young woman's sacrifice to a monstrous entity. However, the situation proves far more complex than initially perceived.
While an official release date remains elusive, considering the development timelines of Witcher 3 (3.5-4 years) and Cyberpunk 2077, a 3-4 year timeframe for Witcher 4 seems plausible, given the early stage of production.
Platform exclusivity is yet to be confirmed, but given the anticipated release window, a current-generation console focus (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC) is highly likely. A Switch port, while successful for Witcher 3, appears less probable for this iteration, though a potential Switch 2 release remains a possibility.
Although gameplay details are scarce, the CGI trailer hints at familiar elements, including potions, signs, and combat. A notable addition appears to be Ciri's chain, used for both trapping monsters and channeling magic.
Voice actor Doug Cockle has confirmed Geralt's presence in the game, albeit in a supporting role, fueling speculation of a mentor-like figure guiding Ciri's journey.
