Sparking! ZERO's Great Ape Vegeta

DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO's early access release has unleashed a formidable foe: Great Ape Vegeta. This colossal ape is proving to be a brutally challenging boss fight, leaving players bruised and bewildered.

Great Ape Vegeta: The Ultimate Test of Skill in Sparking! ZERO

Bandai Namco Joins the Meme Frenzy

Boss battles are designed to be tough, but Great Ape Vegeta transcends "difficult." His relentless attacks and seemingly unbeatable maneuvers have created a widespread struggle. The situation has become so meme-worthy that even Bandai Namco is participating, acknowledging the widespread player frustration with humorous tweets.

The infamous Galick Gun and devastating grab attacks make facing Great Ape Vegeta feel less like a fight and more like a desperate survival test. Players are often resorting to immediate restarts upon seeing the Galick Gun charge-up animation. This challenge is particularly harsh for newcomers to Dragon Ball fighting games, as Goku's Episode Battle introduces this formidable opponent early on, unleashing a barrage of super moves from the outset.

Bandai Namco's UK Twitter account perfectly captured the sentiment with a tweet featuring the GIF of Great Ape Vegeta's overwhelming onslaught, simply stating, "This monke got hands."

While Great Ape Vegeta's difficulty is significant, it's not unprecedented in the Dragon Ball fighting game franchise. Veterans may recall similar struggles in the original Budokai Tenkaichi games.

Beyond Great Ape Vegeta, Sparking! ZERO presents other significant challenges. Even on Normal difficulty, CPU opponents unleash devastating combos, a problem amplified on Super difficulty where the AI seems to possess an unfair advantage. This has led many players to lower the difficulty to Easy.

Despite the widespread difficulty with Great Ape Vegeta, DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO has made a massive impact on Steam. Within hours of early access, it reached a peak of 91,005 concurrent players, surpassing genre titans like Street Fighter, Tekken, and Mortal Kombat.

This success is unsurprising, as Sparking! ZERO is considered a highly anticipated revival of the Budokai Tenkaichi series. Game8 awarded the game a 92, praising its numerous playable characters, stunning visuals, and engaging scenarios. For a more detailed review, check out our article below!
