Tears of the Kingdom Player Airs Ingenious Super Mario Galaxy Tribute

A cleverly edited video recently went viral, transforming Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom into a Super Mario Galaxy experience. Released in May 2023, Tears of the Kingdom, the sequel to 2017's Breath of the Wild, is the latest main installment in the beloved Zelda series. Its quality, along with its predecessor's, is frequently compared to other Nintendo hits like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and various Super Mario titles. This fan-made video highlights the surprising similarities between these two gaming worlds.

Reddit user Ultrababouin's video, aptly titled "Super Zelda Galaxy," cleverly incorporates numerous references to the 2007 Wii classic, Super Mario Galaxy, evoking a wave of nostalgia among viewers. The edit even recreates the iconic opening sequence, mirroring Mario's awakening and encounter with a Luma.

Ultrababouin shared their creation on the Hyrule Engineering subreddit, a community dedicated to showcasing Tears of the Kingdom player creations. The month-long project was submitted for the subreddit's June design contest. Ultrababouin is no stranger to the community, having previously crafted a Tears of the Kingdom version of the Master Cycle Zero, even earning "Engineer of the Month" honors in December and February.

The Master Cycle Zero, a horse-shaped motorcycle from Breath of the Wild, is absent in Tears of the Kingdom. However, the new game's innovative build system allows for the creation of vehicles and other contraptions. This has led to incredible player-built marvels, including an aircraft carrier capable of launching a functional bomber, created by Hyrule Engineering member ryt1314059.

The next Zelda game, Echoes of Wisdom, is slated for release on September 26th. A significant departure from the series norm, Echoes of Wisdom will feature Princess Zelda as the protagonist, replacing the usual Link.
