Star Wars Unveils New Character in Jedi Power Battles

Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles features a surprising new playable character: Jar Jar Binks. A recently released trailer showcases Jar Jar wielding a staff in action-packed gameplay.

This isn't the only addition to the original 2000 release's roster. Aspyr is significantly expanding the playable character selection, aiming to recapture the nostalgia of the original while adding fresh content. Beyond the updated visuals and features like customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support, ten new characters have been revealed, with more promised.

Jar Jar's inclusion, while unexpected, is consistent with the game's chaotic spirit. His gameplay features his signature clumsy style and distinctive voice lines. He joins a diverse cast of newcomers including the Rodian, Flame Droid, Gungan Guard, Destroyer Droid, Ishi Tib, Rifle Droid, Staff Tusken Raider, Weequay, and Mercenary. This expansion brings variety to the lineup, incorporating familiar faces like the Staff Tusken Raider and new droid types.

The updated Jedi Power Battles launches January 23rd, and pre-orders are currently available. Aspyr's track record with other classic Star Wars game updates, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, suggests a promising reimagining for nostalgic fans. The addition of Jar Jar Binks, alongside a host of other new characters, promises a fresh and expanded experience for players.
