Star Wars: Hunters, despite not even reaching its first birthday, is set to celebrate its one-year anniversary before shutting down its servers on October 1st, 2025. But is there really reason to celebrate the demise of a game so soon after launch?
When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?
The official shutdown date is October 1st, 2025, a mere nine months after its initial release. Players will have a few extra weeks to complete Season 5, which concludes on April 15th.
Developer and publisher Zynga will release one final content update on April 15th, introducing a new free Support Hunter, Tuya. In-app purchases will be disabled on the same day. Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers close, and existing season events will be rerun. Players are advised to spend any remaining Crystals as no refunds will be offered.
A Predictable End?
While unfortunate, the shutdown of Star Wars: Hunters might have been foreseeable. Multiple delays since its 2020 announcement, limited beta testing (SEA and ANZAC regions only), a lack of major console support, and a generally lukewarm reception all contributed to its demise.
The game's design choices also seem questionable. Instead of leveraging the iconic characters of the Star Wars universe, Hunters opted for generic original characters, potentially missing a significant opportunity.
If you’re feeling nostalgic or want one last playthrough before the servers go offline, Star Wars: Hunters remains available for download on the Google Play Store.
