Sony has announced movies based on Helldivers 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn

Sony's Helldivers 2 is getting the big-screen treatment! At CES 2025, PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures announced a film adaptation of the hugely popular shooter game.

Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, made the exciting announcement: "We're thrilled to confirm that we've commenced development on a Helldivers 2 movie." While specifics remain under wraps, fans can anticipate spectacular space combat brought to life on the silver screen.

Developed by Arrowhead Studios, Helldivers 2, a game reminiscent of the classic Starship Troopers, quickly became a PlayStation Studios bestseller, surpassing 12 million copies sold within its first 12 weeks. Its popularity surged further with the Illuminate update, reintroducing a beloved enemy faction from the original game.

Adding to the excitement, a Horizon Zero Dawn movie is also in the works, a collaboration between PlayStation Studios and Columbia Pictures – the same studio behind the successful 2022 Uncharted adaptation.

Qizilbash offered a sneak peek: "We're in the early stages of the Horizon Zero Dawn film, but we can assure viewers that this world and its characters will receive an unprecedented cinematic presentation."
