According to acclaimed journalist Jason Schreier, the renowned studio Rocksteady is diligently working on an exciting new single-player Batman game. While specific details are still under wraps, Schreier has not disclosed whether this project will serve as a prequel, a direct continuation of the beloved Arkham saga, or an entirely new universe. However, intriguing rumors suggest that Rocksteady might be developing a game centered around "Batman Beyond," immersing players in a futuristic Gotham. The studio's ambitious plan reportedly includes a full-blown trilogy, set to be released on next-generation consoles.

The Arkham series has been celebrated for its stunning visuals, and a futuristic Gotham could represent Rocksteady's most visually impressive work to date. Transitioning to Batman Beyond also addresses a poignant challenge: the voice of Batman. Following the tragic passing of the legendary Kevin Conroy in 2022, the studio may opt to focus on a new protagonist such as Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne, a strategy similar to what Warner Bros. Montreal had envisioned for its canceled sequel to Batman: Arkham Knight.
Rocksteady's previous venture, an online shooter, unfortunately did not capture the hearts of gamers and was considered a commercial failure. The studio had to abandon its post-launch plans within a year, culminating the story with a hastily produced animation that reversed several controversial plot developments, revealing that fallen heroes were actually clones.
Now, Rocksteady is returning to its roots with a focus on crafting a new solo Batman adventure. However, insiders caution that fans will need to exercise patience, as the project is still several years away from release.
