A former Respawn Entertainment employee revealed on their LinkedIn profile that an unannounced project has been canceled after several years of development. No official reason for the cancellation has been given.
Last year, journalist Jeff Grubb reported the project wasn't a mainline Titanfall entry, ruling out Titanfall 3. Respawn assembled a dedicated "experimental team" of multiplayer shooter specialists for its creation.
This isn't the first Respawn cancellation; an arcade shooter codenamed Titanfall Legends was shut down last year.
The Titanfall series, known for its unique blend of pilot-based combat and powerful Titan mechs, has enjoyed popularity since its 2014 debut. Its innovative gameplay, combining parkour and dynamic team battles, is a key factor in its success.
Respawn is currently concentrating on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the third installment in the Jedi series, and a new, unannounced strategy game set in the Star Wars universe, developed in partnership with Bit Reactor.
