My interest in Pokemon TCG Pocket tends to ebb and flow. I'm always deeply engaged when a new set launches and continue playing as long as there are Emblems to earn for achieving around 40 wins. After that, my routine shifts to logging in daily to open packs, participating in a Wonder Pick for the fun of it, and then moving on until the next day. This cycle is set to restart with the upcoming expansion, Shining Revelry, which is slated for release on March 27th.
Shining Revelry will bring 110 new cards into the fold for Pokemon TCG Pocket, featuring an array of new Ex Pokemon, Trainer cards, and the stunning art cards that fans adore. The highlight of this expansion, hinted at by its name, is the inclusion of Shiny Pokemon. For those new to the concept, Shiny Pokemon are unique, differently colored versions of your favorite creatures. To illustrate, Shiny Lucario boasts a yellow hue instead of its usual blue, and Shiny Pachirisu sports a striking pink stripe.
The trailer, which you can view below, offers just a glimpse of what's in store, but let's delve deeper. A new Shiny Charizard Ex is introduced with an impressive 180 HP and a powerful attack called Steam Artillery, which inflicts 150 damage. The catch is that it requires five energy cards to execute. However, its other move, Stoke, enables you to attach three Fire Energy cards at once, providing a strategic advantage.
Another notable addition is the new Ex version of Lucario. Previously a supportive player in the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, this iteration of the Aura Pokemon is designed for frontline combat. With 150 HP, it may not be groundbreaking, but its Aura Sphere attack is noteworthy. For just three Fighting Energy cards, it deals 100 damage to the active Pokemon and an additional 30 damage to one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon.
The trailer also showcases other cards that, while not game-changers, are nonetheless fantastic additions. Shiny versions of Wiglett, Pachirisu, and Varoom are on their way, each looking fabulous. Additionally, there's a breathtaking Tatsugiri art rare that I'm eager to add to my digital collection.
