Pokemon GO Event Adding Long-Requested Feature for a Limited Time

Pokemon GO Fashion Week: Remote Raid Passes in Shadow Raids!

Pokemon GO trainers can now use remote raid passes in Shadow Raids for the first time, exclusively during the Fashion Week: Taken Over event! This highly requested feature, available from January 15th, 12:00 a.m. to January 19th, 8:00 p.m. local time, allows participation in one-star, three-star, and five-star Shadow Raids remotely or in person.

This limited-time opportunity offers a boosted chance to catch Pokémon with superior Individual Values (IVs) in Shadow Raids. The event even extends to a special Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day on January 19th (2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time), increasing the odds of encountering a Shiny Shadow Ho-Oh and allowing trainers to teach it Sacred Fire. Furthermore, players can utilize Charged TMs to remove the Frustration move from Shadow Pokémon.

While this is a temporary addition, the inclusion of remote raid passes in Shadow Raids addresses a significant player request since their introduction in 2023. The positive reception to this trial run could influence Niantic's decision on whether to make this feature permanent, especially given past criticism regarding the in-person requirements for challenging raids. After Fashion Week concludes, remote raid passes will no longer function in Shadow Raids. The future of remote Shadow Raids remains uncertain, but this event provides a valuable test of player demand and feedback.
