NieR: Automata's opening introduces players to 2B's initial mission. After deploying and engaging in melee combat, you'll acquire a one-handed and a two-handed sword.

The two-handed weapon, the Virtuous Treaty, is a powerful early-game sword temporarily lost after the prologue. However, it's quickly recoverable once free-roaming is unlocked in the subsequent chapter.

  1. Where To Find the Virtuous Treaty in NieR: Automata

This early-game weapon is easily accessible near your starting point after exiting the bunker. Upon landing in the city ruins, descend to the lower level. To the left, locate the highway above the nearest access point. Proceed towards the highway, utilizing the ruins to climb onto the road. This route leads back towards the factory area.

Descend into the factory and follow the grassy path to the main structure. On the left, find another access point and stairs leading upward. In this upper area, locate the destroyed bridge (where you encountered the Goliath enemy). The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the bridge's edge, ready for retrieval.

Your discarded equipment from the prologue, containing consumables, is located just to the right of the sword.

  1. Virtuous Treaty Stats in NieR: Automata

  • Attack Power: 300-330
  • Combo: Light 2, Heavy 2

Typical of two-handed weapons, the Virtuous Treaty excels at wide-ranging attacks, inflicting substantial damage on multiple enemies. Its drawback is a slower attack speed. Upgrades can significantly boost its damage potential, making it one of the game's highest-damage weapons, provided you adapt to its slower pace. You can also strategically incorporate it into combos with faster weapons by using a heavy attack during a quicker weapon's sequence. While this prevents a full Virtuous Treaty combo, it leverages its high damage output while mitigating its slow speed.
