Napoleon Bonaparte, a pivotal figure in the *Civilization* series, makes a grand return in *Civilization 7* (*Civ 7*). To unlock this iconic leader, you'll need to take a few specific steps, depending on which version of Napoleon you're aiming to command.
How to Get Napoleon, Emperor
Unlocking the Emperor Persona for Napoleon in *Civilization 7* is straightforward. Here’s how you can do it:
- Visit portal.2k.com. Log in if you have an existing account or sign up for a new one.
- Navigate to the 'Connections' section, then go to 'Account Overview' to link your 2K Account to the platform you’re using.
Once you've completed these steps, Napoleon's Emperor Persona will be yours to command. This version of Napoleon focuses on commerce and military strength, featuring a unique ability, Empereur des Francais. This ability grants a Unique Sanction called Continental System, which:
- Reduces the Trade Route limit of the targeted Leader to all other Leaders by 1.
- Inflicts a massive Relationship penalty.
- Costs more to reject.
- Provides +8 Gold per Age for every Leader you are Unfriendly or Hostile with.
- Allows you to reject Endeavors for free.
Additionally, the Emperor Persona follows the Napoleonic Code agenda, improving his relationship with players who have the smallest standing army and deteriorating it with those who have the largest standing navy.
How to Get Napoleon, Revolutionary
If the Emperor Persona isn’t your style, you can unlock Napoleon's Revolutionary Persona. To do this, you need to have played *Civilization 6* previously. Follow the same process to link your 2K Account, this time ensuring you link both *Civ 6* and *Civ 7*. Once linked, boot up *Civ 7*, and you'll have access to the Revolutionary Napoleon.
Note that playing *Civ 6* on the same platform as *Civ 7* is not necessary for this to work.
The Revolutionary Persona of Napoleon is a cultural and militaristic leader, equipped with the La Grande Armee ability. This ability:
- Grants +1 Movement to all Land Units.
- Provides Culture equal to 50% of an enemy unit’s Combat Strength when defeated.
The Revolutionary Persona follows the Culture from Conquest agenda, disliking leaders with many alliances but granting a relationship bonus to the player with the highest Culture Per Turn.
And that's how you can bring Napoleon into your campaign in *Civilization 7*. Whether you choose the Emperor or Revolutionary Persona, you'll have a powerful leader at your disposal to shape the course of history.
