Unlocking Lasher in Marvel Snap: Is This Symbiote Worth the Grind?
The Marvel Snap Marvel Rivals season is winding down, but a free reward awaits those willing to tackle the returning High Voltage game mode: Lasher, a symbiote leftover from October's We Are Venom season. But is he worth the effort? Let's find out.
Lasher's Mechanics in Marvel Snap
Lasher is a 2-power, 2-cost card with a potent ability: Activate: Afflict an enemy card here with negative Power equal to this card’s Power.
Essentially, Lasher inflicts -2 power on an opponent's card unless boosted. Given Marvel Snap's numerous buff options, Lasher offers more versatility than free cards like Agony and King Etri. Cards like Namora can significantly increase Lasher's power; a 7-power Lasher (or even a 12-power Lasher with Wong or Odin) becomes a game-changer, effectively delivering -7 or -12 power. He synergizes particularly well with the season pass card, Galacta.
Remember, as an Activate card, playing Lasher by turn 5 maximizes his impact.
Optimal Lasher Decks in Marvel Snap
While Lasher's meta position is still developing, he excels in buff-heavy decks, especially Silver Surfer decks. Here's a sample decklist (from Untapped):
Nova, Forge, Lasher, Okoye, Brood, Silver Surfer, Killmonger, Nakia, Red Guardian, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Galacta. (Click here to copy this list from Untapped.)
This deck features several expensive Series 5 cards (Red Guardian, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Galacta), although alternatives exist for most (e.g., Juggernaut or Polaris for Galacta). Lasher serves as a valuable third target for Forge, often paired with Brood or Sebastian Shaw. After playing Galacta on turn 4, Lasher becomes crucial, transforming into a potent 10-power play (a 5-power card inflicting -5 power) without additional energy cost.
This Silver Surfer deck is adaptable; consider excluding cards like Absorbing Man, Gwenpool, and Sera.
Another potential deck (also from Untapped), heavily reliant on high-cost Series 5 cards, focuses on buffing Lasher and other cards for significant board control:
Agony, Zabu, Lasher, Psylocke, Hulk Buster, Jeff!, Captain Marvel, Scarlet Spider, Galacta, Gwenpool, Symbiote Spider-Man, Namora. (Click here to copy this list from Untapped.)
This deck requires Scarlet Spider, Galacta, Gwenpool, Symbiote Spider-Man, and Namora. Jeff! can be substituted with Nightcrawler. The strategy centers on using Galacta, Gwenpool, and Namora to boost Lasher and Scarlet Spider, spreading power across the board. Zabu and Psylocke expedite the deployment of 4-cost cards, while Symbiote Spider-Man reactivates Namora. Jeff! and Hulk Buster offer backup.
Is Lasher Worth the High Voltage Grind?
Considering Marvel Snap's increasing card cost, Lasher is a worthwhile acquisition if you have the time to grind High Voltage. The mode offers various rewards, making the effort worthwhile. While not a guaranteed meta staple, Lasher, much like Agony, will likely see play in several relevant decks.
