Long awaited by players across PC and consoles, crossplay is finally coming to Baldur's Gate 3 with Patch 8! While a firm release date is still pending, a stress test in January 2025 will give select players early access to this highly anticipated feature.
When's Cross-Play Arriving?
Patch 8, incorporating crossplay, lacks an official release date. However, a stress test scheduled for January 2025 will allow a limited number of players to experience crossplay and other Patch 8 improvements ahead of the full launch. This early access period will assist Larian Studios in identifying and resolving any potential bugs.
How to Join the Patch 8 Stress Test
Want to be among the first to try Baldur's Gate 3's crossplay? Register for the Patch 8 Stress Test! Participation is open to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox players.
Simply complete Larian's Stress Test registration form. This requires a Larian account; create one or log in before starting the registration process. The brief form asks for basic player information, including your preferred gaming platform.
Keep in mind, registration doesn't guarantee selection. Successful applicants will receive an email with further instructions. Selected participants will provide feedback through dedicated forms and Discord channels.
The stress test also aims to assess the patch's impact on mods. Mod users and developers are encouraged to participate to ensure compatibility.
Crucially, for crossplay to work, all players in your group must be part of the stress test. Otherwise, you'll need to wait for the full release in 2025.
Baldur's Gate 3's enduring popularity and dedicated community are testaments to its success. Crossplay will undoubtedly further strengthen this community by connecting players across different platforms to explore the world of Faerûn.
