Honkai: Star Rail Leak Reveals Free 4-Star Character Selector for Version 3.1

Summary

  • A leak suggests Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 will include a free 4-star character selector, offering players a choice of four units.
  • The leaked selector features Qingque, Pela, Serval, or Asta, likely as part of a limited-time event.
  • This event addresses the recent trend of Honkai: Star Rail releasing more 5-star characters, leaving fewer 4-star additions.

A recent leak reveals exciting news for Honkai: Star Rail players: Version 3.1 will apparently offer a free 4-star character selector, potentially tied to a limited-time event. This arrives as Version 3.0 approaches, bringing with it new characters and gameplay features.

Currently, Honkai: Star Rail boasts 23 4-star characters. While many aren't meta-defining, several prove valuable in specific team compositions. Newer additions like Moze and Gallagher have quickly gained popularity for their versatility. However, maximizing their potential often requires significant investment in Eidolon levels. Previous updates, such as Versions 2.1 and 2.7, provided free character selectors to ease this process. A new leak now points to a similar event in Version 3.1, featuring four selectable characters.

Prominent leaker HomDGCat reports that Version 3.1 will offer a free 4-star character selector, allowing players to choose between Qingque, Pela, Serval, and Asta. The leak suggests this will be a time-limited event, mirroring past updates. Interestingly, all listed characters debuted in Version 1.0, with Asta even being given early in the game. Previous rumors indicated all upcoming characters would be 5-star, so this leak could support the theory that Amphoreus isn't planning any new 4-star releases soon.

Honkai: Star Rail Leak Teases New 4-Star Character Selector in Version 3.1

  • Qingque: Quantum, Erudition
  • Pela: Ice, Nihility
  • Serval: Lightning, Erudition
  • Asta: Fire, Harmony

While Pela and Asta remain decent support characters, Qingque and Serval have been largely outclassed by newer DPS units. It's also worth noting that all these characters are available for purchase in the in-game store. Since Penacony, Honkai: Star Rail has leaned heavily towards releasing 5-star characters, with nearly 40 currently available, compared to the significantly fewer 4-star options. Eight more 5-star characters are expected with Amphoreus, with a potential additional two from the upcoming Honkai: Star Rail and Fate/Stay Night crossover.

During Version 2.0, only four new 4-star characters were released (including March 7th's alternate form). Whether this trend continues with Amphoreus remains unclear. However, if the leaks are accurate, future 4-star character selectors may lack sufficient new unit options. Despite this, players have much to anticipate in the upcoming patch, with Version 3.0 introducing the highly anticipated characters, The Herta and Aglaea. To help players prepare, Honkai: Star Rail recently offered redeem codes for Stellar Jades and materials.
