Hearthstone's upcoming Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, launching January 21st, boasts a record-breaking 49 new cards. This expansion, a crossover with Blizzard's StarCraft universe, introduces class and multi-class cards themed around the Zerg, Protoss, and Terran factions.
The Mini-Set's card distribution includes three cards per Hearthstone class. Zerg-themed cards (Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, Warlock) focus on swarming Zerglings and Hydralisk damage scaling. Protoss cards (Druid, Mage, Priest, Rogue) emphasize mana manipulation to deploy powerful units like the Carrier. Terran cards (Paladin, Shaman, Warrior) leverage the Starship mechanic from The Great Dark Beyond, introducing new Starship Pieces and strategies. A single neutral Legendary card, Grunty, completes the set. Card reveals will continue throughout the week leading up to the launch.
The full Mini-Set costs $20 (or 2500 gold), a $5 increase over previous Mini-Sets. A golden version costs $80 (12,000 gold). Alternatively, players can purchase individual faction packs (Protoss, Terran, or Zerg) for $10 (1200 gold) each.
To celebrate the release, Hearthstone will host two streamed events:
- StarCast (January 23, 10 AM PST): Featuring StarCraft legends TrumpSC and Day9.
- HearthCraft (January 24, 9 AM PST): Showcasing Hearthstone community creators representing each StarCraft faction.
Viewers of these Twitch streams will receive two standard and two Golden Great Dark Beyond packs.
