*Lanterns* is set to be a gripping detective drama, drawing inspiration from acclaimed series like *True Detective* and *Slow Horses*. The show will follow Hal Jordan, portrayed by Chandler, and John Stewart, played by Pierre, as they team up to investigate a murder that unravels into a deeper and more sinister mystery. This series is part of James Gunn's expansive DC universe, which also includes *Creature Commandos* and the forthcoming films *Superman* and *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*.
Developed by Damon Lindelof, known for his work on *Lost*, alongside Chris Mundy and Tom King, *Lanterns* promises a darker and more grounded tone. James Gunn has described it as "very grounded, very believable, very real," a surprising yet compelling take on the Green Lantern mythos.
Kyle Chandler, famed for his role in *Friday Night Lights*, brings a seasoned presence to the role of Hal Jordan. Meanwhile, Aaron Pierre, who made an impact with *Rebel Ridge*, steps into the shoes of John Stewart. Fans can look forward to the series premiering in 2026, coinciding with the release of the *Supergirl* movie.
