Speculation Mounts: Will GTA 6 Arrive on PC?
Take-Two Interactive's CEO hints at a potential future PC release for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), fueling anticipation among fans. While an official PC announcement remains absent, the company's history and recent statements suggest a strong possibility.
Take-Two's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, recently spoke with IGN, revealing that while Civilization 7 will launch simultaneously on consoles and PC, other titles, historically, follow a staggered release strategy. Rockstar Games, the developer of GTA 6, has consistently released its major titles on PC after their initial console launches. GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 serve as prime examples of this pattern.
Although not explicitly confirmed, Zelnick's comments strongly imply a future PC release for GTA 6. While fans had hoped for a simultaneous launch, the established precedent suggests a PC version is likely, though possibly delayed.
PC's Growing Importance
Zelnick highlighted the increasing significance of the PC gaming market, noting that PC versions of multiplatform games can contribute up to 40% of total sales. He expressed confidence in GTA 6's success across all platforms, including consoles, even amidst reports of declining PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S sales. He believes the game's release will boost console sales, echoing past trends.
GTA 6's fall 2025 release is confirmed, but a specific PC launch date remains unannounced. Stay tuned for updates on our Grand Theft Auto 6 page.
Expansion to Nintendo Switch 2?
Take-Two's Q3 Fiscal Conference Call revealed interest in bringing their games to the Nintendo Switch 2. Zelnick cited a shift in Nintendo's target audience, making the platform more appealing for their titles. The inclusion of Civilization 7 on the Switch further reinforces this interest, suggesting future releases on the platform are highly probable.
