Genshin Impact's Wriothesley Rumored for Version 5.4 Rerun After Over a Year
A recent leak suggests Wriothesley will finally return in Genshin Impact Version 5.4, over a year after his initial release. This highlights the game's ongoing challenge in balancing character reruns with its extensive roster of over 90 playable characters. The current banner system, even with the addition of the Chronicled Banner, struggles to provide equitable rerun opportunities. While the Chronicled Banner aimed to alleviate this, its effectiveness is debated, as evidenced by Shenhe's extended wait time. Until a triple banner system is implemented, extended wait times for character reruns are likely to persist.
Wriothesley, a Cryo Catalyst introduced in Version 4.1, exemplifies this issue. His absence from event banners since November 8, 2023, has left many players eager for a rerun. The leak, originating from Flying Flame, points to Version 5.4 as his return. However, it's crucial to remember Flying Flame's mixed track record with leaks. While their prediction of the Version 5.3 Chronicled Banner proved accurate, other leaks have been inaccurate. Therefore, this information should be treated cautiously. Nevertheless, the recent Spiral Abyss buffs favorably impact Wriothesley's gameplay, lending some credence to the rumor.
Version 5.4 is also anticipated to introduce Mizuki, potentially Inazuma's first Standard Banner character. If the leak holds true, and Mizuki and Wriothesley share an event banner, the remaining spot might feature either Furina or Venti, as they are the only Archons yet to receive sequential reruns. Version 5.4's launch is projected for February 12, 2025.
