Fortnite: Mask Mandate or Mask Off?

Author : Chloe Jan 04,2025

In Fortnite's Chapter 6, Season 1, a unique Weekly Quest offers players a choice, a rarity in the game's challenge structure. This guide explains how to complete the quest requiring you to decide whether to use or discard an Oni Mask.

How to Decide: Use the Mask or Discard It

Oni Masks in Fortnite Chapter 6.The second set of weekly challenges introduces a twist. After locating a hidden workshop, visiting Kento, and investigating a portal, you'll need to acquire either a Fire or Void Oni Mask. These masks are readily available throughout matches, often found on eliminated players, making this part of the quest relatively easy. The 25,000 XP reward is easily attainable. However, don't get eliminated immediately after picking up a mask!

Once you obtain a mask, a new quest prompts you to "decide to use the Mask or rid yourself of it." This cryptic phrasing is intentionally misleading. To complete the quest, simply either activate the mask's power or remove it from your inventory.

While keeping the mask is an option, it's advisable to use its power immediately. Other players are actively hunting for masks, and eliminating you to obtain one is a common tactic. Activating your mask first ensures you secure the XP and avoid the need to search for another mask in a subsequent match.

That's all there is to deciding whether to use or discard the Oni Mask in Fortnite. For additional quest guides, check out our guide on placing Spirit Charms to learn about magic.

Fortnite is available on multiple platforms, including Meta Quest 2 and 3.
