Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Returns to the Esports World Cup 2025
Following the apparent success of the Esports World Cup 2024, numerous game publishers have announced their return for the 2025 competition. Hot on the heels of Garena's Free Fire confirmation, Moonton has officially announced that Mobile Legends: Bang Bang will also be featured.
The 2024 event showcased two Mobile Legends: Bang Bang competitions: the MLBB Mid-Season Cup (MSC) and the MLBB Women's Invitational. Teams from around the globe competed in Riyadh. Selangor Red Giants claimed victory in the MSC, while Smart Omega Empress defeated Team Vitality (ending their 25-game win streak) to win the Women's Invitational.
A Strong Showing, But Is It Enough?
While most games from the 2024 Esports World Cup are returning, a noticeable trend emerges: the absence of truly major championship events. The inclusion of the MLBB Mid-Season Cup, for instance, might suggest to some that the Esports World Cup is viewed as a supplementary event rather than the primary focus. This is a double-edged sword. It prevents the EWC from overshadowing existing leagues, but it also risks being perceived as secondary to the main championship.
Regardless, fans of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and other returning titles will undoubtedly be thrilled by this news. For those intrigued by MLBB, be sure to check out our tier list of top-tier characters!
