Highlights of Escape from Tarkov 0.16.0.0 Update
The update introduces the "Khorovod" event, featuring unique tasks and rewards, including a special Khorovod mode where players must light and protect a Christmas tree in six different locations.
A significant addition is the Prestige system, similar to Call of Duty's prestige mechanics. Upon reaching level 55 and completing specific quests, players can reset their character, retaining some equipment and earning prestige-exclusive rewards such as achievements, cosmetics, and additional tasks. Currently, two prestige levels are available, with eight more planned.
Further notable changes include:
- Engine Upgrade: Transition to the Unity 2022 engine.
- Frostbite Status Effect: A new cold-related status effect impacting vision and stamina, counteracted by alcohol, warmth, and shelter.
- Winter Theming: Winter-themed enhancements and map adjustments.
- Customs Map Rework: Updated textures, objects, and points of interest.
- New Weapons: Seven new weapons, including two assault rifles and a rocket launcher.
- Hidden Exfiltration Points: Secret escape routes requiring specific items for access.
- New Questline: A new quest chain involving a BTR Driver.
- Hideout Customization Enhancements: Expanded options for hideout personalization.
- Continuous Healing: Implementation of a continuous healing mechanic.
- Recoil Balancing and Visual Improvements: Adjustments to recoil and visual elements.
- Balance Changes and Bug Fixes: Numerous balance adjustments and bug fixes.
The update also includes the standard Escape from Tarkov wipe, meaning players will have a fresh start and plenty to explore once servers are live.
