Pokémon GO has unveiled the much-anticipated addition of Dynamax Pokémon during the upcoming Max Out season. This new feature will be accompanied by a variety of in-game events and rewards, allowing you to truly GO big! The Max Out season is scheduled to run from September 10, at 10:00 a.m. local time to September 15, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
As the Max Out season kicks off, Pokémon GO will introduce the following Dynamax Pokémon in 1-star Max Battles. Trainers will have the opportunity to battle and catch Dynamaxed versions of these Pokémon:
- Bulbasaur
- Charmander
- Squirtle
- Skwovet
- Wooloo
Once caught, these Pokémon can be Dynamaxed along with their evolved forms. There's also a chance to encounter Shiny variants during these battles. Alongside this update, Pokémon GO will introduce special Field Research tasks during the event. Trainers can also participate in PokéStop Showcases, where they can enter event-themed Pokémon for a chance to win rewards.
In addition, a Seasonal Special Research story will be available. Trainers can complete these tasks focused on Max Battles to earn rewards such as Max Particles, a new avatar item, and more. The Special Research can be claimed from September 3, at 10:00 a.m. local time to December 3, 2024, at 9:59 a.m. local time.
An exclusive Max Particle Pack Bundle, which includes 4,800 Max Particles, will be available on the official Pokémon GO web store for $7.99 starting September 8, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. PDT. These Max Particles will play a crucial role in the new Dynamax battles.
Additionally, rumors suggest that new Power Spots will start appearing in the game next month, though Niantic has not officially confirmed these speculations. These Power Spots are expected to be key locations where trainers can engage in Max Battles, catch Dynamax Pokémon, and gather more Max Particles.
Pokémon GO senior producer John Funtanilla revealed during a press briefing that some of the Pokémon with Dynamax capabilities will also be able to Mega Evolve, according to a report by Eurogamer. However, there is still no information on when or if Gigantamax Pokémon will be added to Pokémon GO, though this mechanic was teased during this year's Pokémon Worlds. Niantic has promised to share more details about Dynamax battles in the coming days.
