The Witcher 4 developer, CD Projekt Red, has taken to The Witcher’s official Twitter (X) on April 16 to alert players about a widespread beta test invite scam. The company stated that they have been made aware of fraudulent invitations circulating online, urging fans to be vigilant.
CD Projekt Red's post advised, "We've been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down. If you receive any invites or come across news of a beta test, please report the scam using the tools available on your email client or social media platform."
They further clarified that any legitimate future beta tests would be announced through The Witcher’s official social media channels and websites.
First Revealed in December 2024
The Witcher 4 was unveiled at the Game Awards in December 2024, accompanied by a trailer that introduced Ciri as the game's protagonist. This shift from Geralt, who led the previous three games, sparked significant discussion within the community.
In an interview with VGC, The Witcher 4 Narrative Director Phillipp Weber addressed the fan reaction to Ciri's new role. Weber, who also enjoyed playing as Geralt, assured fans that the team is committed to showcasing Ciri's potential and making her journey compelling.
