Deltarune Chapter 3 and 4 Will Carry Over Saves From 1 and 2

Undertale creator Toby Fox recently provided an update on the testing phase for Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4. Read on for details on console testing and what to expect.

Toby Fox, via his Bluesky account, shared that console testing is underway. While significant work remains, progress is positive. He noted, "Still console testing. There are fewer bugs, but there's a lot to go through. (Haven't even tested PS5 yet)." Beyond bug fixes, the team is working on a crucial feature: carrying over saves from the Chapters 1 and 2 demo to the full release of Chapters 3 and 4. This functionality, recently made possible by new technology, is a key priority. "I hope it works!" Fox added.

With beta testing progressing well, a release date may be on the horizon. Fox has confirmed a 2025 release for Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4.

A New Character Revealed: Tenna

Amidst the development, Fox shared humorous anecdotes. He described a minigame he's working on, jokingly stating that his family and friends interpreted it as "a cry for help because your game is not out." While his family found it positive, one friend laughed for ten minutes straight.

This minigame's existence has sparked speculation that it might be intended for Chapter 5, given Fox previously stated (in 2024) that Chapters 3 and 4 were content-complete. Deltarune is planned to have seven chapters in total.

Further fueling anticipation, Fox mentioned, "Same friend who played Chapter 3 like over a year ago also told me ‘I miss Tenna’ and I was like ‘man that's something no one in the world has ever said huh’." Tenna, a previously unseen character first hinted at during the Spamton Sweepstakes campaign in September 2022, is now confirmed to appear in Chapter 3.

Deltarune, the spiritual successor to Undertale, retains many familiar mechanics while introducing a new story and characters. Players will continue the adventure with Kris, Susie, and Ralsei as they embark on a world-saving quest.
